Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has launched a new Activa, this time powered by a 125cc engine. Called the Activa 125, the Honda scooter is its most powerful yet, but promises good fuel efficiency as well. The Honda Activa 125 made its first public appearance at the 2014 Auto Expo and has garnered a lot of interest among the Indian scooter consumers since then. The Honda Activa 125 is powered by a 125cc four-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine coupled to a CVT or a variomatic automatic transmissio. The new Honda scooter churns out a maximum power of 8.7PS at 6,500rpm and peak torque of 10Nm at 5,500rpm. These figures are similar to the likes of the Suzuki Access, the main competitor of the Acitva 125.
The 110cc powered Activa, meanwhile makes 8.1PS of max power and 8.7Nm of peak torque. Clearly, the Activa 125 has a better torque spread which should make it peppier to ride in the city and more capable to haul heavier loads compared to the Activa 110. Honda has also employed its patented Honda Eco Technology on by he new Activa 125 which reduces friction between the mating parts and improves the fuel efficiency of the scooter.
In terms of design, the Activa 125 isn’t too different from the standard Activa, with traditional scooter styling. The major differentiating styling bit is the chrome strip upfront with the clear lens indicators flanking it on both ends and the chunky rear grabrail. Honda has also loaded the Activa 125 with a digital instrument console with odo, trip and even a clock; viscous air filter, maintenance free battery, tubeless tyres and five-spoke alloy wheels. The Activa 125 also boasts telescopic front forks and coil spring at the back, specs which should ideally translate into a supple ride quality. Also Read: Honda Activa 125 Preview

Both the variants of the Activa 125 are fitted with Honda's Combi Braking System (CBS) that the Japanese manufacturer claims aids in improving braking performance. Electric start is standard on both versions of the new Honda Activa 125 as well. The new scooter is available in four colour options of Midnight Blue Metallic, Sword Silver Metallic, Black and Pearl Sunbeam White.
